Hashen Chandra is a young boy living in Monaragala District, Sri Lanka, with his parents and three siblings. He helps his mother by washing clothes and cleaning the house, doing his best to support the family. Hashen loves playing cricket, which is his favorite hobby and a way for him to enjoy his free time. Hashen is a junior secondary school student, and the school is 1.5 km away from his home. Every day, he walks alone to school, showing his determination to continue his education. His father works as a full-time farmer, while his mother is a homemaker. Despite their hard work, the family struggles to meet basic needs. With an annual income of only $480, they face difficulties providing three meals a day, healthy food, and covering the educational expenses for their children. The family lives in their own simple house, with brick walls and a roof made of clay tiles. They get water from their well, and while they have electricity, they do not have a toilet facility. The family hopes for a sponsor to improve their living conditions and give Hashen and his siblings a better future.
