Thanuka is a little man of action – action figures that is. Thanuka loves to play with action figures – he likes superheroes! He also likes to play with his friends from the neighbourhood and ride his bicycle. Thanuka lives with his brother and parents in their partially constructed house situated in the Moneragala district of Sri Lanka. The walls of the house are constructed with cement block stones, the roof with asbestos sheets and the floor of concrete. They do note have electricity supply or pipe-borne water on their property. They have to go to a neighbouring well to draw water for the family’s need. Thanuka’s father is a farmer. He works hard cultivating the land in order to generate much needed income for his family. Despite his many efforts, he is able to raise only approximately USD650 annually. This too is difficult. Thanuka’s mother is a housewife. Thanuka and his family are struggling with poverty and can use the intervention of a kind person to overcome the challenges added to them by poverty.  

Ending child poverty begins with Thanuka. It’s easy. It’s impactful.
